  4. Installation Instructions

  7. I am currently working on an installation program for WinHdg,
  8. but it's not finished yet so here are the manual installation
  9. instructions.
  10.  
  11. 1) Create a sub-directory where the WinHdg files will go.
  12.  
  13. 2) Move all the WinHdg files into this sub-directory. Consult
  14.    Packing.Txt to make sure you have all of the related files.
  15.  
  16. 3) The easiest way to create a new item in a program group
  17.    is to use Windows' drag & drop feature. Open the
  18.    file manager and drag WINHDG.EXE to either an open or
  19.    minimized program group. (Note: You could also use the
  20.    Program Managers File|New|Program Item commands.)
  21.  
  22. 4) A globe icon will appear in the program group with the
  23.    WinHdg title.
  24.  
  25. 5) Double-click on the WinHdg icon. WinHdg will appear on
  26.    screen.
  27.  
  28. 6) At this point, the first thing you will probably want to
  29.    do is set your home latitude and longitude. Click on 
  30.    WinHdg's system menu box in the upper left hand corner
  31.    of it's window.
  32.  
  33. 7) Select menu item 'Set Lat-Long'. A 'Set Home Latitude
  34.    and Longitude' dialog box will appear on the screen.
  35.  
  36. 8) Click on the 'Help' button for info on the format WinHdg
  37.    is expecting you to enter.
  38.  
  39. 9) After setting your own coordinates click on the 'OK'
  40.    button to save your new values.
  41.  
  42. 10) WinHdg is now ready to calculate heading and distance
  43.     data from your home coordinates!
  44.  
  45. WinHdg is ShareWare. Please feel free to distribute it to
  46. friends and where ever!

  48. WinHdg was written in Turbo Pascal 7.0 running on a 386DX25
  49. under Windows 3.1. If you have any problems, please drop me
  50. a note telling me what kind of system your running and
  51. what problems were encountered. I have tested WinHdg on 
  52. several friends computers, but this is version 1.0, so there
  53. still may be something that I have overlooked.

  55. If you find any errors in the prefix or country tables, I
  56. would appreciate input on that too.
